Well, not exactly oxymoronic, but at least moronic...

While paddling the shore line of south Pender Island (British Columbia) in
very thick fog, suddenly an 18 foot power boat emerges, almost on top of
us. Over the sound of many fog horns (since the channel he just crossed is
a major shipping lane) he asks "What island is this?" Being the honest
types that we are, we correctly respond, at which point he immediately
turns around and heads at full throttle back into the fog and freighters,
in some indeterminate direction.

A man and his wife were observing a flock of Canada geese flying in
their customary V formation with one line longer than the other.

Says he: "Do you know exactly why one line is longer than the other?"

She, expecting a technical thesis on aerodynamics takes the bait,
"Pray, tell me!"

He replies, "There are more birds on that side....."

Another in that vein:

We were watching a club program on a trip down the Nahanni River (Northwest
Territories, Canada). The precocious 10 year old yells out, "Why do they
call that peak Sunblood Mountain?"

Answer: "'Cause that's it's name...."

Why do the birds always sit on the white rocks?

Whilst on the water, but apparently awed at the sight of the surrounding
mountains and glacier I was asked by a dear, sweet relative (no names here!)
"What's the altitude here in Juneau?"
