Date: Sat, 5 Jun 1999 16:01:18 -0600 +ACI-rdempsey+ACI- asks anyone opinions on Bell +ACI-Northwoods+ACI- canoe SNIP+AD4APg- Has anyone used the Bell +ACI-Northwoods+ACI-, and willing to share opinions on this boat? Main usage would be paddling on large lake/river system in Canada's NT. Main concerns are high volume capacity, durability, and +ACI-sea-worthiness+ACI- (especially in wind and waves). I'm looking at an ultra-light Kevlar lay-up...intended usage is primarily on +ACI-big lakes+ACI-, with minimal (but occasional) running of rapids for very short distances, and occasional very short portages. UNSNIP+AD4APg- The Bell Northwoods is a very nice, seaworthy tripping canoe that sounds like will fit your needs. I would order the optional +ADw-should be standard+AD4- footbar. It gives you a much better purchase and keeps you sitting in the seat. Some mini cell gunnel pads are also nice to brace your knees against. If you do get the ultra light +ADw- BlackGold+AD4- be careful as the +ACo-no gelcoat+ACo- finish is impossible to repair without looking like a BIG BOO BOO+ACE- +ADsAXg-) We recently put a Northwoods in our demo/rental fleet and it seems to be getting a lot of rave reviews. :) Good Luck+ACE- Steve Scherrer Alder Creek Kayak and Canoe 250 NE Tomahawk Isle Dr Portland, OR 97217 Phone: 503.285.0464 Fax: 503.285.0106 Web site: http://www.aldercreek.com Email: acks+AEA-teleport.com +AF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8- *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.gasp-seakayak.net/paddlewise/ ***************************************************************************Received on Sun Jun 06 1999 - 17:21:52 PDT
