I haven't experienced it myself, but am not surprised.  My guess is that it is due
to the fact that you've plugged one ear.  Since the other will get water in it, you
get a different temperature in each ear.  This will cause your balance organs
to react in a funny way.  Try getting a plug for the other ear and see of it goes away.
