Does anyone out there have a Bart boat? I need to do some fiberglass repair
and was hoping someone that might have done it could give me some advise.

I know he does something different with his glass (how else could a 16' boat
weigh under 35 lbs?), but I don't know *anything* about fiberglass.....

My first "sea" kayak was a Bart Hauthaway River Touring kayak. It was light
not because the fiberglass was different but because the rounded shape could
remain stiff with a lighter lay-up. Regular boat building resins and
gelcoats should work fine for repairs.

Some years back I chatted with Bart about his boats. He told me he used no
gel coat but mixed his Fritz layer of resin 50/50 gel and resin. Other than
that he mentioned nothing really special. This construction should not
cause any repair problems.

By the way, if you have a Bart Boat you have a fun little boat built by one
of the more interesting people in the industry.
