I have a friend (living in N. New York State) who is looking to purchase a new kayak. He is looking for something light and fast, but still reasonably stable. He likes to race, but he will be paddling mainly on the St. Lawrence R. where he will usually be on flat water and occasionally dealing with 1-2 ft. choppy waves. His budget makes something under $2000 preferable. He is about 5'8" and about 230 pounds. I know this is sort of looking for the mythical universal boat, but does anyone have any suggestions?
