[Paddlewise] shock cords

I own a Feathercraft K1C and am curious as to how well the shock cords hold 
up over time. How about the boats performace at it's payload capacity with 
the weight distributed correctly? So far I've only paddled it empty with the 
floatation bags in place and it feels like it would be more stable with some 
weight in it.
