"Because it's there."
Because Tom pointed out last spring that this currents favor this route as
a day trip.
Because nearly every rock and islet along the route is part of the national
wildlife refuge, and there are lots of birds.
Because there's kelp.
Because I like the view over the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
Because the route is not covered in Washburne's book.
Because you can tell the whitewater paddlers "There's a play spot every couple
of miles."

My experience paddling inside the main San Juan group is limited
to one trip from Shaw to Jones when I was a rookie. The Wasp group is
pretty, but I can't advise whether that fits into a day trip from
Anacortes. As I recall, legal potty stops in that area are limited!
Washburne covers the area well. _Deep Trouble_ has some attention-grabbing
accounts of Rosario Strait incidents.

I've never made much use of the San Juan Current Guide (correct title?).
The Canadian Current Atlas for the Strait of Georgia and the S. of JdeF is
what I've used. Does anyone have any experience with the accuracy of the
predictions for the channels inside the group?
