I have some truckers' rubbery bungie material (black and about 3/8" thick) 
with hooks that are moveable. I've had them for 5 or more years, with no 
stretching or degradation. Got them at a sports rack place in Sacrament (The 
Sports Rack, which I believe now has a website), but they don't carry them 
any more and I can't find them elsewhere. I got the idea from Kate McClain of 
Blue Waters Kayaking (Marin County, California).
