I did read several articles about kayaking on Mono Lake. 1. Don't leave kayaks unattended, they may be gone when you return. 2. Paddle in the morning since fierce winds seem to spring up in the afternoon, common in mountains and deserts. 3. There is an off-limits time in early summer to avoid disturbing breeding waterfowl, I forget when it is. Do a Yahoo search on Mono Lake. 4. The black flies might seem a problem, but they don't bite and are harmless. Don't kill them, birds use them for food. 5. Some of the mineral deposits can scratch/cut a boat. 6. Remember that 80% of the oxygen is in the first 3000 ft of altitude. Mono is above that. Have fun. =^..^= --Mel-- Mel Lammers mslammers_at_earthlink.net ----- Original Message ----- From: <LVito55113_at_aol.com> To: <paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net> Sent: Monday, August 30, 1999 12:27 PM Subject: [Paddlewise] Mono Lake Information > Has anyone been kayaking on Mono Lake?
