I tried an early version of these a few years ago and my size 12 feet tended
to slip forward on them when I rotated the pedal forward. They did not feel
stable to me at all. Anybody else have this problem? Maybe it is just my big
feet or where they were mounted. Maybe the surface was too slippery. I had
thought of making rudder pedals like this but never had much motivation to
do so. So when I tried them out I was disappointed they didn't work well and
felt that a hinged toe flap on a solid pedal might be better than having the
whole footplate rotate. This was a few years ago so maybe my problem has
been resolved.
Gee, I hope this doesn't start up the paddling barefoot or paddling with
shoes debate again.. ;-)
