How did she know!?

...God bless her, she sounds like she has considerably more guts and
talent than I do. But if I were ever to capsize in Alaskan waters
(unlikely, so far in my career), the last thing on my mind would be
timing my self-rescue.

Thanks Elaine.   I post a link to some pictures so that you all can meet
her once I start getting some scanned.

To answer the question that I know everyone is asking;  yes, she does
paddle.  She doesn't share the passion for sea kayaking that I do but she
loves to go out in our canoe.

To answer the next question;  we are not going on a honeymoon right away.  The
weather is still quite nice here so we planned on waiting until January or
February
when it's too cold to paddle here and go someplace tropical.
