Hey, one thing I have learned from this list, is cold weather prep... Insulated Pfd's, thermal undies under gortex PJ's with a drysuit on top of it all. I have three knives at ready, two of which are permanently tethered to my body thanks to the local piercing parlour. My doctor has installed a radar reflector in my skull (makes airport security go really batty tho). I have three different styles of paddle for whatever conditions I may run into. Paddle floats for recovery, water treating pills for my PURifier produced water just in case. A GPS, two compasses, a cel phone, short wave radio, VHF radio, three different kinds of flares. An electric bilge pump, with manual backup. And yup, its south Florida, no Glock, but my trusty model 66, stainless w/ stainless shells just in case. Oh yeah, bear repellent in the front pocket of PFD.. Whew, now if I just have enough room for the butter for lobster, I'll have it made! Scott Tower, Scupper Heavy requests permission to land..... Nowhere's near Cuba tonight.... *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************Received on Sat Oct 23 1999 - 00:58:58 PDT
