I met a double amputee paddling in the False creek area in Vancouver once. She was paddling alone and had no apparent problems whatsoever. I took a group of girl guides out for a half hour trip this summer in calm water...one of the girls had CP...she seemed to do fine in the front of a double with one of the guide leaders. I believe the girl counts it as one of her lifetime experiences. One of my regular paddling buddies is an amputee and he isn't slowed down a bit, in fact he tackles waves that I am cautious of in big storms on our lake. I remember the "caveman" submitting an item on the old wavelength list taking a handicapped paddler off the coast in Hawaii I think. :) Jim *****Does anyone have any experience of taking mildly disabled passengers? If so > I would be grateful to know of any problems, solutions etc. > > All the best, PeterO > > > *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************Received on Thu Nov 11 1999 - 13:06:45 PST
