Y2k hits Alaskan paddlers hard!

Got in my kayak today and quickly discovered Y2k had struck .

I got in my boat and grabbed my paddle and discovered that one blade was
feathered and one was not!

My compass declination had shifted from west to east.

I started paddling and leaned left to turn to the right but the boat turned to
the left!

I dropped the rudder and I pushed on my left rudder pedal and the boat turned
to the right!

I flipped on a wave and went to roll but the "this side up" sign on the deck
of my boat was on the bottom!

I did a wet exit and fired off a flare, a little sign popped out saying
"systen error".

Grabbed my VHF radio to call for help and got the coast guard in Tahiti...they
told me their water temperature was 85 degrees so I had plenty of time left.

Grabbed my GPS and it said I was in Hawaii. I looked to the shore and saw a
big sandy beach , palm trees and hula dancers ....hmmmm maybe Y2k isn't so bad
after all.

Happy New Year

Bob, Sitka
