[Paddlewise] Logo for PaddleWise

I think it was Sandy Kramer who came up with the idea. I believe an owl
should definitely be part of the logo for helping identify each other at
symposiums and other venues. Wise and owls go together. A paddle
should be there too for the Paddle end of the PaddleWise name.

There has got to be someone out there willing to work up a logo and do
the work of making up something that can be distributed to the group at
cost or a small profit. Not me. I don't know anything about this. One
of the simplest approaches is a button in a bright color with the logo
on it. Wouldn't be a good idea to pin it to your dry suit but on your
PFD should be okay. And it is easy enough to put on a shirt or hat when
attending a symposium. Rust? Buy several or spray it with silicon to
reduce the corrosion.

Having such buttons displayed would be a way of attracting more people
to PaddleWise. They see the owl and paddle and ask about it. I suppose
this will lead to arguments about getting too big, letting the riff-raff
in, etc. But the more peopl are on PaddleWise and hearing good advice,
the more informed they will be to make intelligent decisions for
themselves by way of gear and risk management.

Of course, baseball caps and T-shirts would be fine too. Takes more
work and capital and sizes considerations. Buttons are uni-sex and
uni-size.

Distribution could be by mail or by having a supply at paddle shows and
symposiums. For example, I bet at least 50 people from this list are
likely to walk the aisles of the Jersey Paddler Paddlesport show in late
March. Distribute some there. Maybe Debbie of Atlantic Sea Kayakers
might be willing to have some at her booth.

Anyone, someone please work up a design or several people do several
designs. Submit them to Jackie Fenton and her Bob Myer for her thoughts
as PaddleWise is her creation. Then arrange production of the buttons
and we each can order them via a website or email or distribute at
places like Paddlesport, although that may be too soon for that show.

Any way, these are my thoughts.
