[Paddlewise] Paddle Length

Matt Broze recently pointed out that one of the disadvantages of a double is
that longer paddles are necessary.

For our fat double, I use a 220cm paddle from the rear cockpit, and Joyce
uses a 218cm paddle at the front.

More recently Ken Cooperstein commented on his new paddle, +ACI-They weigh in at
22 ozs. in 243 cm. and cost
a remarkable +ACQ-155.  They are nicely finished and perform very well.+ACI-

So what are you supposed to propel with a paddle 243cm long, an aircraft
carrier???...
