It was precisely because of this guy that Dr. Hannes Lindemann decided
to do his crossing of the Atlantic, first in an African freighter canoe
and then in a double Klepper.  He wanted to disprove the theory and was
quite worked up about it.  When Lindemann was the featured speaker at
the 1993 West Coast Sea Kayak Symposium there was still fire in his eye
when he talked of that Frenchman and his theory about drinking sea
water.  You would think that the argument had just happened the previous
week instead of 40 years earlier!!!  But that is very Lindemann-like.
