Providing a rumble seat helps keep them on board.  For info, see

photos submitted by other paddlers with paddling pooches).

Some folks open the hatch, but I'd rather leave it closed.  However,
something like a seasock in the hatch should work, I would think.

Both Mollie and Hallie have jumped off.  They find out rather quickly
they prefer to be *in* the kayak :-)  The type of doggie pfd I use has 
a grab loop on the back. After a couple of trips, they get used to it 
and Mollie usually lies down and goes to sleep.
