I am planning a trip to Hood Canal, Puget Sound, and San Juans in August. Randal Washburne's guide emphasizes the importance of having tide and current tables for the area's you plan to paddle. He mention's Island Canoe Company's "Current and Tide Tables ..." as a good reference source. Since I am only going to be paddling for 2-3 weeks I have a couple of questions. 1. Is there a weekly or monthly periodical that I could get when I get up there that would have the information I need for the couple of weeks I will be there? 2. If #1 is no, can I pick up a copy of Island Canoe Company's tables when I get there? (Since they are annual tables I was concerned that there might be limited availability by August). 3. If #2 is no where could I order one now. I checked Amazon and they had 1997 and 1998 versions listed, but no 2000 editions. 4. Is there any other tide/current related tables, guides, etc. that I should consider? Down here the max tide range is about 2 feet (usually less than 1 ft) and tidal currents are minimal if they exist at all. My lack of experience with tides and tidal currents makes me a little concerned about getting into trouble in Puget Sound or the San Juans. Mark J.
