The failure was partly the original hydrogrip which then increased the stress on the remaining foam which split. I reglued the foam to the hull and also repaired the split. It seems pretty secure now. I'm going to give it a workout after work.. If it fails again, I'll opt for the pegs. cya -----Original Message----- From: owner-paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net [mailto:owner-paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net]On Behalf Of Dave Kruger Sent: Thursday, May 18, 2000 2:41 PM To: PaddleWise Subject: Re: [Paddlewise] 5200 Red "Seng, Dave" wrote: > I'm not qualified to make a knowledgeable comment on the fast-set stuff - > I've never used it. Ditto here, except that I **have** used the fast-set 5200 to attach D-ring holders (PVC) to the inside of the hull of my fiberglass yaks, and that stuff is also permanent. I use 80-grit to roughen both surfaces, and a clean acetone swab to remove any oils (etc.). Bob, if the foam is delaminating from your hull after adhering with 5200, I bet the failure is in the foam, not the 5200. -- Dave Kruger Astoria, OR chemist *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ *************************************************************************** *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************Received on Thu May 18 2000 - 13:49:21 PDT
