Doug,
I don't know if it made the Victoria papers, but last year in Vancouver, a
trio of casual day-walkers got lost in the North Shore Mountains (an area
that is visible from downtown Vancouver, leading many to assume, wrongly,
that they needn't take wilderness-type precautions, gear, and clothing to
hike these hills).
When search crews found them the next morning, they had were discovered to
have attempted to keep warm by lighting a fire - sounds logical, but their
"fuel" included their paper money, some of their clothing, and their shoes!
That's radical, rubber-burn' thinking for ya!
