Doug,
For the high wear locations, (such as keel lines) you may want to try using
graphite powder mixed with a good quality marine epoxy. I have used the West
System with good success, but I am told MAS is supposed perform a little
better.

I have found the hull is much more abrasion resistant on all of my home
built kayaks.

After you have used the epoxy you will never want to use the polyester
resins again.
