[Paddlewise] Standard v Raytheon VHFs

Hi Paddlewisers, from downunder.... I am intrigued by the good press
about the Standard handheld on PaddleWise. Is there anyone on the list
who has used or owns the Raytheons?
I ask the question because for the first time, to my knowledge, we have a
choice in 'water resistant' VHF handhelds, with Raytheon launching one of
their models on the Australian, and I presume, the New Zealand market.
Until this month the ICOM was the only 'waterproof' HH on the market here.
Which leads me to the question. Are there any Americans on the list who
can put a word in for the Raytheons? On the face of it, the company has
the pedigree for quality gear [ just consider their defence contracts!]
I note Raytheon's 100 model is CFR 46, and the 106 is JR-7 which are the
two 'water resistant' standards in vogue.
BTW I have no commercial tie with either company, but would be interested
in any user comments about the Raytheons.
	Paddle on.....
