Does anyone know where I might find / buy a Greenland style throwing
stick for rolling practice? Thanks in advance for any input.

Check out; http://arctic.n
et/~dickson/aleutboard.htm . The Greenland boards I have seen are pretty
much the same as this except that they tend to be a bit narrower at the top
then they are at the grip.

Jed, the May/June issue of Anorak magazine has a really good article on
making a throwing stick by Ray Killan, the editor.

http://members.aol.com/gokayak/anorak/

the only modification I would do with the rather comprehensive
instructions is use a table saw with a angled fence for the harpoon
groove...

I finally have some pictures developed and scanned of the CLC Northbay XL I
built last winter. If anyone is interested you can take a look at:

It's an awfully beautiful boat, John. Very nice job! I have heard
nothing but good things about the North Bay and CLC boats in general. I may
have to build one myself just to see what all the fuss is about. On second
thought, maybe I should finish the other two boats I've started first and
then build a North Bay.

"the CLC Northbay XL I built last winter"
Great looking boat. Any comments on how it handles in various conditions?

I really haven't had a chance to put it to a complete test. I've only had
it out in waves up to 2' or so and on flat water. The only drawback I've
found so far is that the bow tends to plunge into even small waves rather
than ride over them. It makes for a wet albeit fun ride.

The boat looks gorgeous. Will we get to see it in person at the AKT
Symposium?

Great job, John!

How does it handle?

Can we expect to see a photo of you sculling the new Northbay replace
the photo of you sculling a FG boat on your website?!

Which reminds me of a question I asked this weekend, and nobody really
had an answer: if the bow goes through the wave instead of up and over,
wouldn't you maintain speed better? (Mine goes up & over, & it seems to
me that it slows me down, but I'm not really sure...)

Many thanks to Scott and Gabriel for their information of Throwing
Sticks. Strangely syncronicitous timing relative to the Anorak article and my
request for information. Thanks again, I will explore both suggested site
completely.
