[Paddlewise] Cradles/rollers for EuroVan racks?

Hi, guys, I've been keeping busy on the VW EuroVan list I discovered.

OK, remember way back when I was asking for info on racks for the EuroVan?
Well, I took the plunge and bought the ProRac System (www.prorac.com) that is
made specially for the EuroVan - actually what we term the Eurobago as the
camping conversion is done by Winnebago vs. the European one by Westphalia.

Trouble is they put the racks too close together for a kayak and on Tuesday
I'm going to Key Largo to have a 3rd rack installed further forward. Hey,
I'll be able to have a kayak on one side and a $400 Escape Pod storage box on
the other :)

I also ordered two sets of cradles (I want to load the two Hobie Pursuit
SOTs). They provided Thules. Here's the question:

Would I be better off with two cradles up front and two hully rollers at the
back?

I still have the problem of getting the boats up there and not scratching the
paint work. I was able (ALL BY MYSELF with the assistance of a SIX FOOT
LADDER) to protect the hood with a blanket, slide the boat from the front
over a 4" wide noodle in the over-the-cab storage well and get the 44 lb.
boat on the cradles.

I'd really like some kind of roller system at the very end of the back of the
roof. I saw something that might work in the German REIMO camping catalog -
will check on how it works and how much it is.

One more thing, will the poster who sent me the picture of his VW camper with
a side-loaded kayak please contact me and tell me how he holds the boat on
the side?

Thanks
