That sports channel was wrong. The wind surfing capital of the world is
Hood River Oregon. :-p

Brian.

Kidding aside, I must admit that I was surprised. I figured it would
be Florida or somewhere around Chicago. Maybe Chicago gets too cold and
Florida *too* windy (Florida corners the market on hurricanes, I do
believe :-)

I do know that kayak sailing around Corpus Christi can be most
entertaining... :-)

Cheers,

Jackie

I thought the windsurfer capital is on the inland side of Cape Hatteras
National Seashore. Windsurfers go there regularly and it is noted for
its high winds. It is afterall where Kitty Hawk is located and where
the Wright Bros. went to experiment with that thing they called an
aeroplane or something like that. Without its winds, we would never
have been able to now sit long hours waiting for planes to take off.

The consistent windy conditions weren't the only reason given when
Corpus Christi was named. It was also that the water temperatures there
offered comfortable windsurfing year-round.

Cheers,

Jackie (who really misses warm water)
