The USCKT (United States Canoe and Kayak Team)  http://www.usckt.org is the 
organizational body in the US.

The ICF http://www.datanet.hu/icf_hq is the international organizing body.

Welcome to a really small club of paddlers ;-)  
As an example, my current race boat is one of Joe Glickman's old boats....
