I switched to gluing the Velcro in with contact cement (at least two coats on both surfaces) and those Velcro pieces have held up well, the "oldest" one now in place more than three years. Maybe I just got an especially bad batch of pre-glued Velcro. >> The preglued stuff is really bad. I've used it for a few things and not one bit of it has lasted. When I used velcro to put my foam seat and thigh pads in I bought the marine 2" stuff and used contact cement. I did not do the 2 coats thing and regretted it with the thigh braces because I found that after repositioning a couple of times that the ends had come up. I just yanked and when it wouldn't come up any farther I did the 2 coats thing. So far, so good but just the squirming of the foam thigh braces is a real test. I expect the seat will stay. I'm NOT going into real surf and I have the thing formed around the cheek straps which help keep it from sliding back and forth very much. Someone mentioned putting the hook side on the boat and the fuzzy side on the foam. I did it the other way because the fuzzy side is easier to clean than the hook stuff. I can take the seat out and run the velcro side under a good stream of water to get the dirt/sand/whatevery out. Besides, if I do have to paddle without the seat I'd MUCH rather sit on the fuzzy side than the hook side, especially in shorts or swim suit. I learned that the day I forgot the gel seat for the Breeze and had to sit on the velcro. I was just lucky that I had put the fuzzy side on the seat and not on the gel seat. I was wondering if the hook side might have stuck to my wet suit.
