You can find stainless steel U bolts with all the bells and whistles for a waterproof, secure mounting at most Marine outfitters like West Marine or www.aldercreek.com. They sell for $10-15. If you either replace the standard nuts with ny-locks or booger up the threads on the bolt, after installation, you will get a totally secure system.
