The post re: the positioning of bulkheads in kayaks led me out to the garage to measure the location of mine. On my QCC500X, 16'-10" glass boat, the bulkheads are almost exactly 1/3 in (5'-6") from each end leading me to believe it may be a structural consideration as much as anything else.
