You might want to read Eric Stiller's Keep Australia on The Left which follows his and Tony Brown's 4,000 mile paddle from Sydney to Darwin. It involved constant surfing in a loaded Klepper double that basically was self-supported except for what they could forage in towns and markets along the way. His book is both an adventure tale as well as a virtual primer on expedition paddling a double in rough conditions. One could easily tear out the sections of discussion of gear, double surfing and rough water handling and rescue, etc. and make a darn good book on double's technique. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter Treby" <ptreby_at_ozemail.com.au> To: "Paddlewise (E-mail)" <paddlewise_at_paddlewise.net> Sent: Thursday, April 26, 2001 7:28 PM Subject: [Paddlewise] Doubles > I was wondering if anyone has any experience of double kayaks and techniques > for handling heavy conditions and surf. > I don't paddle a double, but I am trawling for information after a recent > trip in which a double capsized in surf.
