There have been quite a number of discussions about gear/events here and where those things might be obtained/found. That isn't the problem. The issue is one where a merchandiser/outfitter comes on to promote their own goods. It's the "for-profit" commercial ads that are a problem and what we are trying to avoid, although I think folks might not be too happy to receive a stream of posts on all types of gear found in specific locations that few can get to. Remember, we have subscribers here from all this planet. And, we already have quite a bit of traffic... usually. The info should be of general interest. Maybe I need to clarify that the no commercial promotion policy is about not using PaddleWise as a billboard for advertising one's own business? btw... selling personal gear and kayaks is ok. That's specifically covered in the policy included in the intro which curious folks can find at: http://www.paddlewise.net/intro.html Cheers, Jackie *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s). Sorry, I don't want that job 8-) I spend enough time maintaining the list (too much) and do not want to conduct research to find out if a manufacturer is being honest with me or may be exaggerating when they want to introduce a "new" product. Besides, from the position of a subscriber and not a list-owner, I would not want these type of promotions on my list. Each year there are a lot of new kayak designs, a lot of new paddling gear and what about those in the outfitting business? Shouldnt' they, too, be then allowed to announce the new trips they've added to their itinerary? What about new sports bars and new tents and camp stoves and water-proof cameras...? We could be reading nothing but new product announcements for paddlers. Ugh Cheers, Jackie *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
