Support: The pump is supported by the top deck only .....   Certainly a 
support could be placed on the bottom of the kayak, if required by your 
particular kayak.

Weight - including inlet tubing: 5" pump -1lb 4 oz, 8" pump - 1 lb 6 oz

Capacity - 5" pump: 5 GPM, 8" pump: 6GPM

Five or six GPM isn't bad, but I think it would be dependent on location and 
arm angle; there's not a significant difference in pump power between the 
two, so the need to use the smaller one isn't much of a penalty.  Agreeed --- 
some sort of large "fender washer" device might be strongly indicated.  
(They're used to plastic whitewater boats, I suspect.)
