My Kayak and Canoe are under a shade tree on a homemade rack attached to
a wooden privacy fence and covered with the blue poly tarp. They are
only out of the shade for a very short amount of time each day (except
when in use or transport) and the tarp is more for protecting against
tree sap, bird droppings, etc.

Is it helping with UV at all or am I kidding myself????

Hello Rick,

I store my boats under the exact same conditions. The tree, homemade rack,
against a fence, blue poly. The blue poly tarps will protect against UV
degradation. I've been using them for many years with no problems. I cut
them to fit, and change them every six months or so. It costs about $20 a
year to cover two boats. The birds and tree sap are the reasons I wouldn't
put anything fancy on them.

Best regards,
Steve Schmitz
