My local news station just carried a brief story (with video) about a very
strange occurence in Quebec. They stated that a kayaker managed to
rescue a father and daughter from a lake, after the father had driven
a car (with himself and the daughter in it) into the lake? Details
were garbled, and scarce, but the video appear to show a woman in
a short plastic whitewater kayak towing the rescuees to shore.

Does anybody have the full story (or a pointer to it)?

Thanks,
---Rsk

Rich,

Yes, I saw the same story and it was an amazing story. After several attempts
by rescuers that failed because of the swift currents, the female kayaker you
mentioned paddled out with a tow line and made the rescue. Yes, your right,
it was a short white water river boat she was paddling. Unfortunately, the
father was arrested because he had been trying to kill his daughters when
they were all swept in the water. Tragic story but I thought it was so neat
that a kayaker was able to make the rescue and that the little girls are okay
now. That's the way the news here reported it anyway.

Not far from where I lived during high school. This link is only valid for a dozen more
days.
