Hi, all. My brother has asked me to take him on a 4ish day flatwater (Class
I) trip (either Kayak or Canoe) in Pennsylvania or perhaps Maryland. We're
not looking for a commercial outfitter from which to buy a trip. We want to
plan it and take it as just the two of us, or with any P'Wisers who may want
to join us.

The main issues are ease of the trip, adequate camping locations, beautiful
scenery and isolation (at least being out of site from industry and generally
developed land) and the possibility for a little decent fishing along the way,
but that last issue takes a big back seat to the paddling itself.

One of the local canoe clubs here is planning a Memorial Day trip on
the Clarion River in Western PA -- a tributary of the Allegheny. I haven't
been there yet, but the stuff we've been able to find makes it sound pretty
good. You already know about the Susquehanna. You might also want to look at
the Greenbrier in WV. That's very accessible and can be an easy multiday
camping trip. So can the South Fork of the Shenandoah -- problem there is
adequate access but much of it flows through National Forest lands where
camping is easy to find....
