Joe Pylka was looking for a 4 day class I paddle trip in PA or MD with good
scenery and isolation.

Sorry, Joe -- I dont think you are going to find such a place, at least not
with Class I water. Isolated rivers in this part of the world tend not to
be flatwater and flatwater rivers (and lakes) tend ro have lots of vacation
home development on them.

Personally, even for a 4 day trip, I would drive a bit and go to the
Adirondacks in N. New York. Parts of the Racquette, or the upper
Oswegatchie would fill your requirements, though even on the Racquette you
cant go four days without seeing a lot of houses. The Upper Oswegatchie
could be done as a leisurely four day trip, either one way with the long
portage from Low's Lake, or round trip from Inlet with a bit of upstream
paddling.

Or, go further North to Ontario -- lots of isolated rivers up there,
especially in Algonquin Provincial Park.

Also, you might look into Allegheny State Park in NY State, on the border
with Pennsylvania. There is flat water in there, and I think I remember
hearing that the Allegheny Gorge has good scenery, but I dont know how
isolated it is.
