All it took was a bit of wind to draw you out. <snip> Thanks Melissa (and Sandy, and Henry). Sorry for the poor prose - was a late-night-can't-sleep post. As it turns out, my Victoria friends Garth and Kevin (two of the coolest Kiwi's I know) left for Alaska on Sunday. It was still blowing hard (like 50-knots hard) but I imagine they set off in the lee of the lower Vancouver Island here. At least the wind was on their tail. They are going to Alaska via kayak on the inside route, then turning around and coming back via the outside route in the same kayaks. The rest of us office-bound work-a-day slobs can follow them on their web site. It is a nice site, with some nice pics. A number of us Paddlewisers have spent time with these two guys, training them, training alongside them, giving them advice, and providing moral support as well as practical help. I'd recommend a look: <http://www.cankiwiskayak.com/introduction.htm> Peace and good paddling to you all, Doug *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
