Wade, For flatwater paddling, I keep Garmin 12XL in a clear waterproof GPS bag either around my neck on a lanyard or in my front shirt pocket (still secured with a lanyard). I have the unit in the bag upside down so it's right side-up when I read it (which I do frequently for bearings as well as distance, speed, and estimated time of arrival). Around the neck wear would not be a good idea for whitewater, however. > Well I've purchased my first GPS unit and I'm learning how to properly use > it. I'm curious, where on a kayak do folks place their GPS units? -- Al Vazquez KayakGuide.com tm Places to Paddle tm - Kayaking - Canoeing - Rafting - *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
