Sea Kayakers,

A few friends and I drove a little over an hour south this morning to go for a
paddle in San Diego. With the weather so nice, we weren't wearing any
neoprene, just shorts and shirts, and of course, sunglasses. We launched in
Mission Bay and headed 11 miles north to La Jolla Shores. Along the way
paddled out about a mile or two to try to find some whales. We didn't find any
whales, but we did stop out there to do some rolls in the refreshing 59 degree
F. water. At La Jolla Shores we played in some three-foot surf for about an
hour before calling it a day. On the drive home I had to turn the air
conditioning on. All day long people we ran into kept on mentioning some
football game. I thought to myself, "Who in San Diego would be home watching
a football game on a day like this?"
