>My youngest daughter has FINALLY (thank you, Lord) >taken an interest in paddling with me, and has her >heart set on a Umiak, for no other reason >than she's seen it, sat in it, she likes it, and it's >available at our local outfitter Rick, I bought an Umiak a couple of years ago and highly recommend it. My daughter is now 14 and enjoys the Umiak. The first time she got in it, she found it to be a very easy kayak to paddle. I take it to lakes and I've had my nieces and nephews paddle it also. They range in age from about 5 to 12, it is very stable and handles easily. I bought mine used for $200 so you might keep your eyes open for a used one. I think it's an excellent kayak for kids.
