We use the dock about 200 meters north of the ferry landing. It is fronted by
a long gray building set up a scosh on the hill. There are coin operated
showers there. There are slips, closest to the building, where one can launch
or land a kayak. You will find them on the north side of the central pier. I
have not been to San Juan Island itself in several months so this info is
that old. Though it is a public facility and I'm sure not changed much.
Incidentally, if you paddle over from Anacortes it is a free ride back on the
ferry as they charge you on the Anacortes side. It is a lot easier to launch
from Washington Park, but you need to leave a vehicle at the ferry lot for
shuttling.
