Tom, check out this Bulletin Board... http://www.kayakforum.com/cgi-bin/Building/index.cgi That's the boat building discussion forum on Nick Shades "Guillemot" site. It's a very active site, the people are friendly and the wealth of information is overwhelming. Currently, there are probably dozens (if not more) people building SOFs on that site, and many, many more who have built one or more SOFs in the past. I think you'll find that by reading posts and asking questions, you won't be "going it alone". Many, many, first time builders have success without having someone else standing next to them. I'm maybe 80% done with s strip built boat, and I don't know that I could have done it without having the bulletin board available for questions and answers. It's a great resource. Give it a try. At minimum, search the archives for SOF posts and see what's out there.
