Tom, this may be too far south for you, they are located in Central New
Jersey. Thought you might be interested anyway. I have no connection with
Paint Island. Chris

Friday October 31 - Sunday November 2nd 2003. Build your own skin on frame
kayak with Bob Foote.

This is a nontraditional skin on frame kayak utilizing modern materials that
allow the kayak to be built in approximately 24 hours. On Friday night, the
class will meet for 2-3 hours and determine custom configurations on the
individual boats. Saturday and Sunday are 10 hour build days. Upon completion
with the course, your boat will be ready for waterproofing of your choice at
your home location.

Our building shop is located on the Crosswicks Creek in Bordentown. Not only
will you have a great shop facility at your disposal but we will also have
boats available when you need a break and want to get out on the water.

Cost for the course is $935.00 which will include your materials, a paddle and
a lifejacket. Course is limited to no more than 7 individuals.

For more information on Bob Foote please go to his web site www.bobfoote.com.
Who's Bob Foote? Don't let the white water background impact you. Bob also is
a kayaker, designer, builder of musical instruments and more. If you need

Subject: [Paddlewise] Boat Building with group or class?

Hi folks!

I becoming more and more interested in skin-on-frame boats and would like

to try and build one. I'm not bold enough to get one of the three books SK

reviewed last month and go it alone. Rather, I'd enjoy doing the building

in a class or with others.

I live in York county in Maine, so I can travel to some reasonably large

population centers. Of course I'm always looking at Qajaq USA and various

outfitters web sites and pamphlets. I'd be interested if anyone in my area

knew of an opportunity to build a SOF with a bit of "security and support."

Thanks in advance!

Tom
