Maybe you should try doing something Japanese dishes? Rice is always easy to
pack and economical in use. My favourite sauce goes well with both white and
red meat - and also especially with fish:

1/3 black radish (Raphanus sativus niger)
1/3 soya sauce
1/3 lemon juice

Mix everything 10 minutes before serving. It does not keep overnight and has
to be fresh. Unfortunately I do not know the name of this sauce but it has
been a great hit in some parties ;-)
