How "odd" are they? [Just kidding.] Are we talking about adventurous eaters?? One possibility would be to visit an Indian grocery store before your trip to stock up on dried legumes. You should be able to buy more varieties of "dhal" than there are variations on an eskimo roll. Buy a few different packets of (pre-blended) spices such as "sambhar", or "dhal makhani masala," serve with cooked rice, and you're set! You might even unwittingly convert a few carnivores in the process... You could probably also visit an Oriental market to buy Indonesian "bumbu" (a spicy peanut sauce packaged in small, rectangular blocks, to which you add boiling water). Serve the "bumbu" over any bland meat, fish, or veggies and you'll have a tasty treat. You could also stock up on dried mushrooms, cuttlefish, or seaweed while you're at it. Need ballast? Bring along some canned baby jackfruit, hearts of palm, or banana leaves, and prepare them with canned coconut milk using "Rendang," "Lodeh," "Opor," or any of the other Indonesian "mixes" that consist of pre-blended spices and are sold in packets at the Oriental grocery. Have a fun trip, and don't forget to post a report!! Emile __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo!
