I couldn't resist the redirection of the summer thread, what with the year-round paddling here in Texas and some of my favorite winter paddling times just ahead. It will be in 70s (F) here on the island today, falling into daytime highs in the 50s next week, all great paddling temps. Armand Bayou, a personal favorite, was magnificent at day's end yesterday. Over 20 species of birds - Texas is great for winter birding, and spring and summer and fall, always changing. The golden light of evening set off the trees, both bare, semi-bare, and evergreen. Dickinson Bayou the night before (yes, we paddled after dark) was fun too. On my sights: John Wiggins Bayou, Lake Charlotte, Greens Lake, Chocolate Bayou, ICW between Basford and Chocolate bayous, Aransas Bay, and many other places both already-explored and awaiting a first trip. At the end of next summer: New Zealand. It's the beginning of our autumn, their spring. Yee ha, Hobart, here I come. Cheers y'all.
