We'll spend the summer of 2004 doing day trips as we travel to and around
Vancouver Island or Nova Scotia, Newfoundland & Labrador.

One extreme or the other.

Well, my plans aren't nearly as exciting as some of the others who have
already posted, but I'm planning a week in April to Tybee Island in
Georgia, where I hope to hook up for at least a day with a fairly local
P'Wiser (the first P'Wiser I will have met in person, outside of my
hometown, anyway.)

I also have tentative plans to go to Acadia in Maine around Sept/Oct,
but I may run out of vacation time due to other family vacation
possibilities. That trip may have to wait until 2005.

I'll also do my annual (except for last year - first one missed in a
decade) week in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

But, day in and day out, I'll be in and around the Chesapeake Bay - my
home waters. I hope to venture out a bit. I usually launch from three
locations within 5 miles of my house. The Bay is a big place... I need
to venture out a little and see the rest of it.

I'll be dreaming of lots of great places, though.... Glacier Bay,
Newfoundland, Georgian Bay, Apostle Islands, Boundary Waters Canoe Area,
Everglades, the Keys, canoeing the Adirondacks,.... and many, many more!

I also intend to plan a whole passel of trips, put them on the shelf,
and simply "pick one" from the library when I have short notice
opportunities to go on a trip. Within the next couple years, I hope to
have at least a solid framework and ample logistics for at least 20
trips. Then, when the time comes, I'll just need to update and
re-verify some info, and possibly make some tweaks for the actual trip.
Doing all the research and planning will also help me prioritize the
order in which I want to take the trips.

Anyway, in a long winded sort of way, that's what I'm up to.

Rick

CR Gorge, New Zealand, the Puget Sound, and close to home--as often as
possible. Hopefully we don't have forest fires taking out the summer
whitewater season!

Living in southwestern Ohio, the local fare is mainly man-made lakes and the
Ohio River. A fewtrips to Lake Erie I'm sure, and the normal month or so in
southwest Florida will wrap things up. Nothing "classic" but time on the
water.

By the way, Fort Myers has the Calusa Blueway paddling trail that is quite
extensive and will be adding a lot more trails around Pine Island in 2004.
