I think a typo in the second to last line...

"...this site, I couldn't find it. But I did find something about
digging for clams and bury picking (they will provide shovels and
bury bags but no fishing tackle). "

They providing "bury bags" or "body bags".

Their race must not be covered by insurance. Does it say anything
about release waivers? Is the State aware of these plans?

Dear Paddlewiser's,
I've wanted a pair of stands for a while now, to make it easier maintaining
and cleaning my kayak, but just haven't got around to building and or
purchasing any! I'd like a stand that wouldn't take up to much room, when
not in use and something strong and stable enough so I don't accidently end
up knocking thus "smashing" my composite kayak to the cement floor when I
happen to bump into it!
Does anyone have any ideas on the making of or purchasing of a stable
colapsable kayak stand?
Thanks in advance!
Bill Doody

Bill,

Below is a link to a picture from R2K3 of some folding PVC based stands I saw.
Hopefully it will be useful. I have seen a different style, but I can't think
of where right now.

Aaron, I wasn't able to open your link but used Google to search for R2K3!

Wow!!! I'm not sure if these are the stands you're talking about and I
don't mean to get side tracked but some of these kayaks are something else!
I think I'd like to build a woody!
I have to share!

PS
I wasn't able to at first but added, 021-9%20(small).jpg, to your link and
yes, this must be the place or close enough to it!
I wasn't going to send this email but it might make some people drool!
Now, who makes these stands?

Although I'm usually the first person to build something from scratch, I'd
be tempted to head to your local Menards or Home Depot and pick up a pair
of folding plastic sawhorses - then simply add a padded 'yoke' or saddle
for the boat. They fold up flat (approx 2" thick), hold ~150 lbs each, and
cost about $20 for the pair. And actually, just a flat padded top for them
works pretty well - easy to roll the boat on its side.

I use a couple of folding aluminum "camp stools". They sag in the middle
and allow me to roll the boat from side to side while rinsing. Cheap,
portable and easy to store.

I use a variation of this, which is a couple of folding "camp tables". They
are very similar to the camp stools, but the surface is twice as large.

I saw an online ad for the Talis Seahorse, and am thinking of buying it, but
am
concerned that it will be too unstable on the floating dock where I launch.
If you
launch from solid ground it might be worth a try.

Hi Bill,

I have in my garage a set of Talic SeaHorse stands. They are the most
portable, stable kayak stands I have seen. Take a look at:

I've used Talic's products, think they are great, nice folks.
Functional, bomb-proof with an elegant, simple design.

I have no financial relationship with Talic, nor gain anything
in relaying this information to the group.
