Have you looked at a Current Designs Solstice GT HV or Boreal? I am a 230#,6'2" paddler and I paddle a Current Designs, Solstice GT which sometimes I find tight and have thought of going up a size to a GT HV! I sat in a HV which seemed big for me but did not have a chance to paddle one, which I may try someday! Overall, I am quite satisfied with my GT! Also, you might, check out Boreal Designs! I paddled a Narwal which I fit into very easy but found a little short at 16'. I actually enjoyed the Narwal, very stable and easy to paddle and the first kayak I ever paddled. If I can elaborate, I felt so comfortable while paddling in Lake George that hot July or August day, just inside a large bay that I took my feet off the pegs, laid the paddle down, crossed my legs and sat back to enjoy the sun on my face the view and the new peace I had found in kayaking! Which lasted just about as long as it took me to type this or maybe shorter! I was broad side by a 1'1/2 or so wave, capsized, watched my $200 glasses sink to the bottom, which I tried to retrieve and ended up giving up trying to get back in and accepted help from a passing power boat, who I am grateful to! The lessons I learned that day!!! Oh, did I say Power Boat this was a entrance way to a marina or should I say a lot of marina's! There were so many powerboats you'd think they had a sale! What was I thinking! I just wanted to share, for the humor of it all! There Nanook looks a little bigger at 17'8'', with a 24 1/4" beam The Current Designs GT HV may pass your $2300 budget but maybe not! I purchase my Solstice GT from Mountainmanoutdoors in Inlet NY, so I checked to see what they had! They're selling one new 2003 fiberglass, red with rudder for $2,270.00 and 1 kevlar for $2644.00. So you just might find one in your area under your budget, if you like the kayak! Also, they offer Boreal Designs and it looks like you could pick up a kevlar under your budget! I am not affiliated with any company.. Happy paddling!
